Most Charming Hotels In Havana - Florida Hotel

by Mauricio Garces

Old Havana hotels are considered by many as the most charming hotels in Cuba. Having superior accommodation facilities, plenty of intimacy, beauty, and first-class services, these hotels have charmed each and every traveller that ever stayed on their premises.

Among those fascinating hotels, it is worth mentioning the four-stars Hotel Florida, one of Havana's most historic places for been one of the first hotels ever built in San Cristobal de la Habana (full name of the Cuban capital) in the Nineteenth Century.

Hotel Florida has 25 rooms. Four of them are suites, while the other 21 are standard rooms. The place exudes comfort through and through. The Bodeguita del Medio bar is not far away and visitors can find transport easily in the form of horse-drawn carriages which are parked outside the hotel.

This hotel opened to the public in 1899 and since that very moment, it has drawn the attention of travellers who enjoy stopping by and admiring its grand architecture style. Its roomy court yard is very cosy and invites you to seat and relax while sipping one of Havana's most famous cocktails 'El Mojito'.

According to some sources, it is believed that this hotel was built in 1836 and it was the residence of remarkable businessmen of that time. Among them, it can be mentioned the count of San Ignacio as well as the wealthy and paramount Spanish count Jose Eugenio Mor.

This Hotel-palace first became lodge in 1885 under the aegis of Don Jose Dobano who adopted the comfort of the US and European hotels of that time. After Castro?s Revolution the building suffered major transformations and it was only in the late 90?s that this hotel was refurbished into its current grand architecture.

Hotel Florida's perfect location it is definitely one of its main appeals but its charm, intimacy and luxury will guarantee you get to enjoy Havana at its most.

All In Antigua Holidays

by Edward Watkinson

Antigua, a popular and well-liked city for its well-preserved Spanish architecture manifested by the remains of royal churches, is located in the central uplands of a Central American country named as Guatemala.

At the heart of the city is a reconstructed fountain in the middle of the famous Central Park, whereas, towards the side of the Parque, Central Arco de Santa Catalina is located, which is also among the most popular landmarks of Antigua.

Having abundance of classy architecture to witness, Antigua has become a first-class preference of tourists. Moreover, Antigua is contemplated as a safe place for tourism due to its nearness to Guatemala City. Transportation is more accessible and simple within the Guatemala City, but buses with direct routes to Antigua are there which solve the problem of travelling between the two cities.

Christian rituals like the forty days of Lent season leading to the Holy week and terminating with Easter are so fully observed in the city of Antigua that it makes it even more popular place to visit. Processions are carried out all through the streets of Antigua in the course of Lent season.

People who work all the year round with hectic schedules need some time in a peaceful setting that provides motivational uplifting of their morale. A blissful time awaits those who choose to spend their holidays in Antigua. The island has hundreds of beautiful beaches with crystal-clear water and plenty of sun and sand to be enjoyed by the tourists.

Shopping there in the markets and duty-free shops is another source of enjoyment. Thirty miles to the north is located an adventurous spot known as Barbuda, which can be visited by hiring a boat. Boggy Peak is the highest point of Antigua can also be visited in order to have a far-reaching picture of the city

Scuba diving and snorkelling are the experiences, which are not supposed to be missed by any tourist. Canoeing is another must to do experience in Antigua. Sea dogs who hold three popular yachting events throughout the world consider Antigua as a heaven on earth.

An almost unbroken wall of coral reef is present that provides an excellent base for such adventurers while making the beaches safe for families as well. Depending on individual choices for holidays, the North West coast can be opted for its more developed resorts, or the South West coast where one can relax in peace.

Not only the beaches but the historical ports, sugar mills, museums and other historical remnants are as much entertaining as any other thing in Antigua. The Ruins of Old San Jose, Old Weapons Museum, Church School of Christ, The Jade Museum, and Maria Eskenasy Fine Art are there for tourists attraction. Museum of The Old Book, San Francisco Cathedral, Santo Domingo Monastery, Church and Convent of Capuchins, The Artists Studio and Gallery, Museum of Colonial Art, and the former San Carlos University Building depict the history of Antigua and they cannot be shunned to watch.
