Cheap ways to travel between Caribbean Islands?
Can you answer Nicole F's question about Caribbean Vacations?:
My boyfriend and I planning to island hop between the Caribbean Islands, starting at Puerto Rico, working our way South, getting back to the center and then heading North again. I have heard of mail boats and some ferries, but, more specifically what is the best (and cheapest) way to get from island to island?

A: The ferries are the cheapest, but you won't get to all the islands that way. To see them all you'll eventually have to take local planes. Frequently though, the price of airfare goes down as more people book the flights.
The following link might be more informative:
A: why don't u take a cruise??? Then you get to see many (not all) the islands, all meals, etc. are paid for, all travel is taken care of, etc. Makes the most sense if you want to visit more than 1.
To ferry around the caribbean is not so easy as some of the islands are far apart. However, there are some which are in close proximity to each other so those you could target in that way. I think you can ferry to about 2 to 3 islands with the possibility of spending quality time there as well.
A: Try for the Caribbean airlines.
A: Why dont u just go crusing? A ferry is cheaper but certainly u wont get to go to all of those places that u want to and you would have to pay for food drinks etc. On a cruise u wont have to! =)
Good luck.
A: Check - they have the BEST deals like 2 for 1 priced Cruises, Flights, plus hotel packages almost anywhere - you cannot find a better deal I guarantee you.
A: Taking a cruise would the best way of seeing the islands. It is far cheaper as well since after paying for the cruise you do not have to pay any accommodation nor for meals and you get to see lots of islands for your money. You are not restricted in the amount of luggage you can take one a ship. If you want to bring back 10 suitcases you can but the airlines would restrict you. You will also be dining in fine restaurants on the ship. The only disadvantage for some people is that the alcohol is not free but juice is only at breakfast.
This cruise line takes you from Puerto Rico, St Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, St Kitts and back to San Juan. Depending on when you want to go it is onlyUS $449-$579. Is that not cheap?
Additionally, check out this one. The majority of these are for longer periods.
