Where to go in the Caribbean for beaches, snorkling and rainforest?

Can you answer t_christ76's question about Caribbean Vacations?:

I am planning on a trip to the Caribbean or Mexico. Hoping to find a place with nice beaches, snorkeling and the possibility of some land based activities or some rainforest/waterfalls. I would like to avoid the more touristy areas, and package resort deals but at the same time keep the accommodations reasonably priced. I don't need anything fancy but near the beach would be preferred. Anyone out there been there and have any suggestions??
Thanks!

A: You are describing Costa Rica perfectly!

A: My sister really enjoyed Trinidad & Tobago. I like St. Lucia as well although I'm not sure if they have rainforests but they do have awesome waterfalls. I also like Aruba, but again no waterfalls (that I know of) or rainforests.

A: Puerto Rico. Check out this site for El Yunque Rain Forest, hotels and snorkeling.

Enjoy)

A: I live in the Caribbean (Trinidad & Tobago to be precise) and I can tell you that we have some great beaches. I hiked for years in Trinidad and had a blast. I would highly recommend Trinidad and Tobago as a holiday destination. You can have a look at the attached link for further information.
You can also check out more specifically some information on Tobago. Also check the reviews from other travellers.

Hope this was helpful.

A: Costa Rica, for the rain forest, St. John USVI, for the great snorkeling, and St. Thomas USVI for the nice beaches. Water Island USVI, for less tourists, population is 169 people.

Try Maho Bay Camps on St. John, $80 a night.

Try Virgin Islands campgrounds, eco-resorts and tent cottages on Water Island, $75 a night.

For St. Thomas try, The Crystal Palace, starting at $99 a night.

I've personally been to St. Thomas, St. John, and Water Island and have stayed at these accommodation's. St. John is especially beautiful. St. John also has a national park. Have fun wherever you end up :).

A: Would say Antigua. They have 365 beaches. Really great ones to like the famous Dickinson Bay. Snorkeling is great to since they have lots of coral reefs and they have a slide through the rain forest in the south of the island.

A: If you like solitude and the best of beaches/snorkeling go to the Corn Islands
