Tips To Consider Before Hitting The Tropics

by Rick Jenkenns

While winter is still gripping the northern most points of the United States, many of you are thinking about jetting off to the Caribbean for a quick escape. If that's the case for you, here are some simple tips to consider before making reservations.

Best Month To Travel

This tip tops the tropical vacations list because the main reason we go down there is for the weather! You can look at weather trends on line for different times of the year, as well as check with your travel agent on when the best time to go is. You also need to be mindful of how cold it gets at night during the winter months as this can cause you to have to pack more clothes!

Destination And Price

Assuming you have never been to the tropics, I will tell you that everywhere down there is paradise and beautiful. I always recommend newer travelers start with the popular, yet less expensive parts of the Caribbean first and work their way up. The best place to go first for the money is Cancun. You will get great service there and pay a lot less than some of the more exotic spots.

Another idea is to ask your travel agent what areas are new to travel but getting popular. These areas will offer big discounts. A great place for this is Punta Cana.

Accommodations

The popularity of the "all inclusive" resort has hit an all time high, and for good reason. Going all inclusive means you can pay one price and just go enjoy yourself. There is nothing better than being able to kick back, eat and drink all you want and live in paradise for a week. Just be sure you look at the ratings on the resort before booking to ensure they hae good food and service.

Don't Drink The Water

If you have not heard this before, then you have really been living under a rock. Long story short, do not drink the local water anywhere you go. You should not take chances with your vacation enjoyment. Find some bottled water and you will be fine.

Most of all, just go to get relaxed and recharged. Have fun, enjoy the beach and the pool and start planning your next trip, while your first one is still in full swing.
