In this post I want to introduce you to an alternative to safe money for your holidays in Cuba. You have probably been looking around already and maybe you have some quotes from few agents. I bet you find them expensive.

One of the most expensive parts of your holidays in Cuba is definitely the transfers and almost all tour operators will include taxi transfers in their packages Taxis as you can appreciate are the most comfortable but also the most expensive way of touring around Cuba.

My advice in this regard if you want to safe hundreds is to use VIAZUL Bus Company. Viazul has terminal in most of the Cuban provinces and the tickets are really cheap compared to taxi drives.

So that you have an idea of how much money you can safe let's take for instance a taxi transfer from Havana to Trinidad. This journey takes about 5 hours and it will cost you around 250 CUC if you travel by taxi. Instead with viazul a ticket will cost you just 25 CUC.

As you can appreciate the difference is huge. When you want to visit places like Havana, Pinar del Rio, Cienfuegos, Trinidad or Santiago de Cuba only in taxi transfers you could be paying well over 800 CUC. Viazul will safe you around 80 % of that amount.

Viazul buses are quite new and comfortable. They have large coaches with 40 seats, WC, air con, television and catering services.

People don't realise how long distances are in Cuba when they look at a map of the island. Cuba looks so tiny compared t the mass of Continent that surrounds it but it is well over 1200 km long from west to east.

Viazul although is very cheap compared to taxis it is a bit more uncomfortable. You will have to get a taxi from your hotel to the station and then get on the bus that will take you to your destination. As you can see it is not as comfortable as waiting for a taxi to take you to your next destination but is worth doing it if money is an issue.
